Petroleum Association of Japan (PAJ)

Title : PAJ 2022 Oil Spill Response Workshop
“Challenges Facing Oil Spill Response Operations
During the Recent COVID Pandemic
”
Date : February 22nd (Tuesday), 2022
Venue : Online
Objectives :

Each year Petroleum Association of Japan brings new and interesting topics to the workshop to illustrate the development of response strategies based on the lessons learned from Major incidents such as “Exxon Valdez” 1987, “Gulf War Oil Spill” 1991, “Nakhodka” 1997, “Deep Water Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico” 2010. This year on the 22nd February 2022, Petroleum Association of Japan plans to hold the 9th Oil Spill Workshop to discuss the “Challenges or Responding to a Major Oil Spill Incident During the recent COVID Pandemic”. The past 2 years have posed many challenges to our normal way of life and all sectors of industry have had to come up with their own solutions on how to cope with the restrictions. During this time oil industry has still been involved in exploring for oil, producing, refining and transporting oil so the risks for oil spill incidents are still present and inevitably have happened during the COVID Pandemic. The focus of this years Workshop will be on the incidents that have happened during the last 2 years, the planning that has gone into dealing with incidents on a global perspective and successful execution of the respective responses under the restrictions. You will hear firsthand from the people involved in the planning of their respective organizations and from the people who have responded to the incidents.
After all presentations have been given, the session will be opened to the audience of this Workshop for free discussion with each presenter to deepen and confirm understanding of the issues raised and to answer any questions that the audience may have.
